He recently spoke of his fears of becoming a ‘sad, lonely old man’.

So it was little surprise that Hugh Grant chose to spend his 50th birthday enjoying dinner with a stunningly beautiful woman.

However, the lady in question, Afef Jnifen, is unlikely to be the one to convince Grant finally to shed his eternal bachelor tag.


The Tunisian model is married to Italian billionaire Marco Tronchetti Provera, who is head of Telecom Italia and tyre manufacturer Pirelli.

The couple are close friends of the Four Weddings And A Funeral star, who enjoyed a weekend of their hospitality in Italy following the dinner at a Milan restaurant on his birthday last Thursday.

He attended the qualifying for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Saturday lunchtime, before watching Inter Milan – the football team of which Mr Provera is a director – beat Udinese 2-1 that evening.

Raven-haired former L’Oreal model and actress Miss Jnifen, 47, was first pictured with Grant two years ago when he visited Tunisia for a Christmas break.

Grant recently said he was ‘dreading’ his 50th, even joking about visiting a euthanasia clinic.

He said: ‘There is this place in Switzerland called Dignitas. I’m going to go to Dignitas on my 50th birthday – 50 is enough!’
