Buck toothed beauty: Taylor Swift appears in a new television ad for her album Speak Now
She has written and sung songs about being an ugly duckling turning into a swan and how high school was tough for her.
But now songstress Taylor Swift shows the transformations she went through in a funny and touching new television commercial for her new album Speak Now.
In the ad for the deluxe version of her new album, sold exclusively at Target, Swift makes fun of herself as a teenager growing up - even wearing an ugly pair of fake teeth.
Target exclusive: Taylor wears a pair of fake teeth and has her hair back-combed as an homage to her teenage years
The 20-year-old musician starts the ad with huge frizzy hair and buck teeth while she sings about being at school and an unrequited love who preferred someone with sleek locks.
She claims her dream was always to be a big star and prove everybody wrong. We then see her as a young country star in a huge Dolly Parton-esque wig and bright purple trouser suit with cowboy boots as she strums a guitar in front of a barn.
The ad then shows Taylor looking completely different in a short sleek brunette wig and chic dark-rimmed glasses as she sings about becoming a poet.
Taylor has been going to extremes to promote her new record.
Just this past weekend she held an impromptu concert in the middle of central park involving a performance of several of the new songs off the album.

The performance and it's following after party were streamed live over the internet and on MTV, VH1 and the Country Music Television channel.
Taylor's NYC outing comes in the wake of a reported new romance in the singer's life - with Brokeback Mountain actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
According to reports, the pair spent the weekend together and attended the broadcast of Saturday Night Live to support Taylor's pal Emma Stone.
'They showed up together', a source told People magazine.
'They walked around together backstage, but they were careful not to be seen too close. It was hard to tell if they were together, but everyone was shocked that she brought him.'
Swift and Gyllenhaal were then seen together again on Sunday, just hours prior to Taylor's Central Park performance, while brunching at Al Di La in Brooklyn before taking a stroll around the trendy Park Slope neighbourhood.
