Lunch for one: Zac Efron heads out in driving rain to pick up a sandwich in Los Angeles yesterday
After four years of romantic meals with his girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, Zac Efron is now facing Christmas as a single man.
Yesterday the actor was seen popping into a sandwich shop alone yesterday, picking up a sub and packet of Cheetos for his solo lunch.
Dressed in a denim shirt and chinos, he looked less than impressed as he walked to his car through the driving rain.
Just last month Zac, 23, was spotted hugging and kissing his High School Musical co-star Vanessa as they sat in a car. But not soon after they announced their split.
With ex-girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens; the couple had been dating since they were teenagers
The couple started dating when they were only teenagers, after meeting on the set of the hit TV movie HSM, which made them household names.
However, it seems there is no third party involved and it was simply a sad case of growing apart.
'It's nothing dramatic,' a source told E! Online. 'There's no third party involved.'
Another source, close to the couple told Usmagazine.com: 'They are still talking and still friends. There's no drama. No one cheated. They just grew up.'
Vanessa talked about the relationship earlier this year, saying: 'Right off the bat, we had a connection.
'I think everybody could see it. When we had our audition, they paired us together. And he was adorable.
Missing Vanessa? Zac didn't look like he was enjoying bachelorhood
'I think that we inspire each other,' she added. '[I love] having someone to grow with.'
As she celebrated her 22nd birthday last week as a single woman, Vanessa said there were no hard feelings towards her ex.
'We're good,' she said.
Now Zac is looking to the future, and according to The Hollywod Reporter he is in talks to star alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in star-studded romantic comedy New Years Eve.
The film will follow a series of intertwined romances in a similar fashion to the movie Valentine's Day.
