Coke Zero Street Striker: Wayne Rooney films the advert for the third series of the show

There was speculation he might be dropped by Coca-Cola over allegations that he enjoyed a series of liaisons with a £1,200 a night prostitute while his wife Coleen was pregnant.

But Wayne Rooney was back to his best with a smile on his face filming Coke Zero Street Striker in Manchester today.

He is thought to earn around £600,000 a year from his deal with Coca-Cola and fronts the TV show Street Striker on Sky which helps amateur footballers develop their ball skills.

Keen footballers can audition in front of Wayne to show off their talents and one lucky person will be crowned the country’s next Street Striker.

While filming the advert for the third series of the show, Rooney greeted fans in a black tracksuit and trainers and smiled as if he hadn’t a care in the world.

But his filming came just a day after he was photographed with Coleen Rooney for the first time since their marriage was rocked by revelations of his adultery on September 5.

Their glum faces snapped in the couple’s car suggested they were hardly enjoying marital bliss again quite yet.

With Manchester United and England striker Rooney, 24, behind the steering wheel of their black Range Rover and Mrs Rooney facing down sombrely, they left their multi-million home in Prestbury, Cheshire, together.

Their son Kai was in his chair in the back seat.

And last night a close friend told how the pair were spending time together trying to resolve the issues in their marriage.

Last night, a close friend told the Daily Mail: 'They are spending time together and talking about a future together. They are working out the best way ahead.

'They are keeping the discussion between themselves. Obviously, there are issues they have got to sort out as a couple.

'After all, when it comes down to it, they are two young people with a young child trying to work it out.'

Rooney - who was not expected to play for Manchester United in the Carling Cup at Scunthorpe United last night - has been battling to save his marriage since prostitute Jennifer Thompson claims that she had enjoyed liaisons with him on seven separate occasions.

Initially, Mrs Rooney stayed with her parents on Merseyside. However, ten days ago Mrs Rooney returned to the marital home.

Nevertheless, at the time, a close friend said the couple - who wed in the summer of 2008 - were not necessarily fully reconciled yet.

The friend said: 'Nothing is clearly resolved. There is still dispute, a lot of hurt. Obviously, things are looking better than they had a week ago, but this is a couple who have to work out their future.’

At the weekend, Mrs Rooney, 24, joined her family – who are practising Catholics - in heading to the South West French town of Lourdes on pilgrimage. She also took her and Rooney’s 11-month-old son.

Mrs Rooney’s family have not just been devastated by Rooney’s philandering. They have also been deeply worried for Mrs Rooney’s younger sister Rosie McLoughlin, 12, who has incurable brain disorder, Rett Syndrome.

And it is believed Mrs Rooney was planning to bring back bottles of holy water for her sibling - who is in intensive care at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool - from Lourdes.

Last night, a friend of the family's said the youngster remained 'very seriously ill.'

Rooney was said to have had a series of liaisons with Miss Thompson, 21. On one occasion, he also took part in a ménage a trois with her friend Helen Wood, 23
Rosie was taken in as a foster child by the McLoughlin family aged two and was subsequently adopted by them.

Speaking about her love for her sister, Mrs Rooney has described Rosie as suffering from 'a rare and complicated illness - a genetic neurological disorder that steadily gets worse.

'Today Rosie can't walk or talk. She can't eat, so she's fed through a tube that goes into her stomach.

'She has good days and bad days and her health can change from hour to hour.’
