Daddy on duty: Action star Hugh Jackman looks like an urban dad as he collects daughter Ava from her school in New York
He is known to be a devoted father - and tough guy actor Hugh Jackman clearly likes to be very hands on with his family
The 41-year-old Wolverine actor and his actress-director wife Deborra Lee Furness walked unnoticed by passersby through New York's West Village district on the way to collect their daughter from school today.
No nanny for Jackman and Furness - who met on the set of an Australian television show they both starred in - as they met five year old Ava at the school gates and then walked back towards their home.
Father Hugh was put in charge of carrying the bags and scooter while mum Deborra hoisted Ava onto her shoulders for the walk.
Ava, along with her brother Oscar, 10, was adopted as a baby after Deborra suffered two miscarriages early in their marriage.

The Australian natives split their time between Sydney and New York, where they co-founded a production company called Seed Productions.
Hugh's new film Real Steel caused chaos over the weekend when a helicopter got tangled in an overhead power line on the set in Michigan.
No one was hurt but a road had to be closed down and the accident cut off power to a whole town for several hours.
Set int he future, Hugh plays boxer Charlie Kenton in the film who becomes a promoter when the sport is outlawed for being too violent.
Kenton finds a discarded robot, who appears human, that is a natural for the sport.
