Born to be mild: Gwyneth Paltrow scoots around London on a silver moped

By DAILY MAIL REPORTER

Easy rider: Hollywood star Gwyneth Paltrow chose an unusual method of transport, ditching the limousines and private jets for a moped in central London yesterday

Gwyneth Paltrow may well be used to travelling first class on private jets, and in limousines.

But it appears she also likes to be the captain of her own ship.

The 37-year-old Iron Man actress was spotted zipping around town on an unassuming silver moped, merging seamlessly into the busy street scene.

Dressed down in a sleeveless khaki gilet, jeans, and leather gaiters, her celebrity status was betrayed only by the expensive silver Gucci helmet she was wearing.

The mother of two children, daughter Apple, 6, and Moses, 4, looked fearless as she negotiated London's notoriously busy traffic while running errands in the city.

And with the congestion charge - a fee for road use in central London - waived for moped riders, the millionaire film actress would be saving herself a few pennies into the bargain.

The Oscar-winning actress seems to have developed a taste for music themed projects of late.

Hardly surprising as she is married to Coldplay star Chris Martin, 33.

Her latest film role sees her play a country music singer. And it has just been announced that she will appear in hit US show Glee.

Creator, and friend of Gwyneth, Ryan Murphy has confirmed he has written a part specifically for the Shakespeare In Love star.

He told the BBC: 'Gwyneth is a great singer. She's done it a little bit but I really want to show it off and show everyone how great she is.'

Yesterday she appeared to be imitating one of the Thunderbirds team as she dropped her children off at their North London school yesterday.

The 37-year-old actress wore thick-framed plastic glasses very much like those favoured by super-intelligent stammering puppet Brains in the 1960s TV show.

Gwyneth and family have recently returned to London after spending time in America, where Coldplay have been recording new material.
