Showing some support: Nicole Scherzinger comforted boyfriend Lewis Hamilton after he crashed out of the Singapore Grand Prix today following a collision with Mark Webber

She has been a constant presence at boyfriend Lewis Hamilton's Formula One races.

But Nicole Scherzinger has never been needed as much as she was today, when she comforted her beau following his disappointing result in the Singapore Grand Prix.

The 32-year-old Pussycat Dolls star - who has recently been showing off her talents as a judge on The X Factor - looked solemn as she watched Hamilton crash out in a dramatic collision with rival Mark Webber.

Disappointment: Nicole looked shocked and upset as Hamilton exited the track following his crash

The pair had earlier looked happy and excited as they arrived at the Marina Bay circuit for the race, and Nicole, who wore a sparkly top and black trousers, insisted on taking some pictures of Hamilton in the pit before the start of the race.

Following the collision with Webber, Hamilton admitted, somewhat begrudingly, that the incident was down to something that often happens on the track.

He said: 'That's motor racing. I'm not going to blame Mark. He was fortunate to come out of it without problems and I guess I was just unlucky.

'I was in a position where I had to take that risk and I did the best job I could to give room.

'There are still four races to go, but I was not expecting what has happened in these last two races, especially at this crucial point in the year.

'I really have to keep my head down and hope for something. I've got to try and enjoy the rest of the season and whatever happens will happen.

'I'll keep fighting to the end, but we're a long way behind now. It's going to be a hard struggle for the next four races.'

The collision cost Hamilton his third retirement in the space of four races.
But things weren't nearly as bad for his British McLaren teammate Jenson Button, who came in fourth in Singapore, and fifth in the F1 Grand Prix overall so far.

And currently world champion Button is hopeful of his chances for the rest of the championship.

He said: 'I have had a couple of races that have frustrated me. The main one was Hungary and how tough that race was for me. But a lot of the races I have been very happy with, especially the race performance.

Romantic day out: Jenson Button was accompanied by girlfriend Jessica Michibata at the race

You did so well! Japanese model Jessica couldn't hide her excitement as she left the track with Button

'A few of the qualifying sessions I have had issues and haven’t really got the balance and not been happy with the position I’ve started.

'But overall this season working with new team and getting to know new people and understanding the way of working and engineering, I am pretty happy.'

Button was accompanied by his Japanese model girlfriend Jessica Michibata, who showed off her figure in a tight blue and white dress.
